Good Morning! First things first- SCANS WERE NEGATIVE FOR METASTASIS!!! This is an answered prayer for sure. There was a spot of what they think to be benign fatty infiltration on the liver. They are not sure if it was there previously-trying to compare scans this week. This could or could not be the cause of the elevated liver enzymes from his previous labs. Labs will be drawn again on Monday to check all of his levels prior to starting treatment #2. As of now, treatment will continue as planned with 12 total doses of FULFOX and the next scans are scheduled at MDA in September. Brent tolerated the first treatment well with about 36 hours of feeling very tired, nauseous, and generally not well. Other than that the side effects have been manageable thus far.
Brent, Ella, and I just returned from Ella's Bulldog Days orientation at Samford University and we couldn't be more excited for her! God put her right where she needs to be- the support available to her is incredible, the care and concern for each student from the President to the cafe workers is amazing, and the parents and students that will be there alongside were great. We had the opportunity to meet and spend time with her roommates parents and it seems that it will be a great fit. Samford is unapologetically Christian and we are so thankful that she will be surrounded by people of Faith everywhere she turns. We are very thankful that both Brent and I were able to attend orientation with Ella, we had prayed for that opportunity and again He answered.
Cora was able to spend some time away from everything at the beach with her best friend and her family- we can't thank them enough for loving our girl like their own! Wyatt has been living his best life of baseball, basketball, and playdates with friends. We truly have the best village helping us and we love you all.
Specific Prayer requests:
*that liver enzymes are closer to normal and all labs look good before treatment #2
*that Brent continues to show no signs of cancer in his body
*that Brent can tolerate treatment #2 with little to no side effects
Thank you again to everyone that has prayed for our family, donated a meal, a giftcard, a ride, a playdate, monetary support, the list goes on. I have not been able to reach out individually to each one of you yet, but please know that we see and appreciate your support more than we can say.
