AN UPDATE ON ATHINA & JESSICA ❤️
Since I first shared Athina and Jessica’s story, so much has happened.
On August 11, their lives were turned upside down when the tornado devastated their home. They lost virtually everything. They could not salvage their items, their belongings were buried under fiber glass, heavy roof material, and every room was soaked in water.
Then, just two days later, on August 13, my precious mother, Ruth Munsey, passed away.
For the past two years, Athina had become so much more than my mother’s caregiver. She adored Mom and lovingly called her “Mama Ruth.” And my mother loved her.
Athina didn’t serve my mother simply because it was a job. In fact, for much of their relationship, there wasn’t an hourly wage or a time clock. Athina showed up. She cooked for Mom, cared for her, sat with her, checked on her and became her friend. I blessed Athina financially, but what she gave my mother went far beyond anything I could pay her.
After the tornado, Athina was heartbroken that she couldn’t be there for Mama Ruth. Then, just two days later, Mom graduated unexpectedly to be with Jesus.
So within a matter of days, Athina lost her home, virtually everything she owned, and someone she deeply loved.
I live in Seattle, and when all of this happened, I got on a plane and came. Now I want to do for Athina what she so faithfully did for my mother for these past two years:
SHOW UP.
Insurance may eventually help, but they are homeless right now.
Athina and Jessica need to get back on their feet—a place to live, beds, furniture and the everyday necessities we often don’t think about until they’re gone.

Would you consider giving $10, $25, $50, $100—or whatever is in your heart? Even $5 … Every gift matters.
Athina loved and cared for my mom when I couldn’t be there every day.
Now it’s our opportunity to care for her.
Thank you for helping Athina and Jessica begin again. ❤️
