I wanted to give everyone an update and share what happened.
While we were in Nashville, we were on an enclosed tractor ride around 11am that morning. It was the very first thing we had planned after breakfast that day. We were stopped at a red light, dancing and having a great time. If you really know me, you know I love to dance no matter what time of day it is. It was simply a freak accident that happened in a matter of seconds.
When the light turned green, the tractor suddenly jerked forward. I was standing facing the back of the trailer, and the sudden movement caused me to lose my balance. I had my arms up, which caught my upper body, but my legs flew up over me in a scorpion position. The impact caused a herniated disc between my C5 and C6 vertebrae that was pressing against my spinal cord.
Because of the pressure on my spine, I had to have emergency surgery to remove the damaged disc and relieve the pressure on my spinal cord. During surgery, they fused my C5 and C6 vertebrae together and placed a plate with two screws to stabilize my spine while it heals.
Thankfully, the surgery helped with many of the symptoms I was experiencing.
Right now, I'm not having many issues with my legs other than weakness from the surgery, so I'm slowly getting back to walking. My biggest struggle is with my forearms and hands. The pain is hard to describe, it's a combination of burning, tingling, aching, and nerve pain. Some days are definitely harder than others.
I know I have a long road to recovery ahead of me, but I'm taking it one day at a time and trying to stay as positive as I can.
I also want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed for me, checked in on me, and offered support. Every message, phone call, and act of kindness means more than you know. While any help is appreciated, the love and encouragement I've received have truly warmed my heart and helped keep my spirits up.
Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I work toward healing. ❤️
