If you've been following our journey for a while, you know our van has broken down more times this year than I can count. While we love the memories of our epic adventures with it, we desperately need something more dependable. I had to cancel an appointment this week because it simply wouldn’t start.

Our adventures are not just fun, they contribute to making the world more accessible and inclusive. However, we must rely on our vehicle to do so. We are looking for an accessible van that can accommodate 6-7 people, but the prices are astronomical. As a solo parent, I'm reaching out to you, our amazing community, for help.

Transportation has become a critical and urgent need for us. Our current van is breaking down and lacks a wheelchair-accessible lift. His manual chair was damaged, lifting it out of this van. And Elijah’s power wheelchair weighs over 300 pounds, making it unsafe and physically impossible to lift manually. 

Without proper accessibility, even routine outings create physical strain and safety risks for our entire family. A wheelchair-accessible van is not a luxury; it’s essential.

To travel together safely and with dignity, we need a vehicle that can accommodate Elijah’s specific wheelchair and medical needs while also fitting all the mini-humans!

The average cost of a gently used accessible van this size is around $90,000. This includes the vehicle, lift system, safety restraints, and the necessary modifications for Elijah’s wheelchair.
