Allison’s Cancer Journey
Sorry for the delayed update, life has just been moving so quickly. Allison was discharged home on Wednesday evening with no evidence of the typhlitis on her x-ray! She was able to drink and eat, and get off the TPN and off the PCA. Her counts finally came up which allowed her body to heal the mucositis and the typhlitis. Huge praise! She has been so happy being home and is finally starting to feel better. Seeing her smile again has been so good for the heart.
Our next step is imaging this Monday, including a repeat PET scan and CT. On Tuesday, she’ll be admitted again for the next round of chemo. This one shouldn’t drop her blood counts as severely as the last one, but she has still experienced mucositis with each cycle.

We’ll also have another opportunity to speak with the surgeon on 3/10 to ask additional questions. The current plan is for at least one more round of chemo after this one and before her amputation, which is scheduled for 3/30. In the meantime, we have a few small family getaways planned before surgery too.
Right now, we’re praying that there has been no spread, that the tumor is responding well to treatment, and that the surgery goes smoothly. We’re also praying for Allison, that she’s able to truly enjoy these little getaways, and for her heart as she continues walking this road, with all the hardship and change it brings.
