We got the MRI results and the following is the results of the damage that I sustained to my knee. Current surgical game plan which may be subject to change as my full MRI results weren't released by the radiologist at my last apt. Plan is a full ACL replacement. The pre-op apt is Aug 4th where I will be meeting with the anesthiologist along with having a full apt going over the entire plan for my knee surgery. I am also currently slotted to start PT the day after my surgery which will be rough.
Surgery is through UF Sports Orthopedics.
Below is the MRI Results.
Impression:
Partial ACL tear with cortical avulsion of the distal attachment.
Grade 1 MCL injury.
Grade 2 FCL injury.
Longitudinal tear of the distal biceps femoris tendon.
Complex tear of the lateral meniscus with osseous avulsion of the anterior root attachment.
Peripheral tear of the medial meniscus posterior horn and body.
Comminuted proximal tibia fracture with median eminence and depressed lateral tibial plateau
components.
FINDINGS:
Medial meniscus: Linear oblique horizontal T2 signal traversing the peripheral third along the
inferior surface of the posterior horn extending into the body.
Lateral meniscus: Tears of the popliteomeniscal fascicles. Complex tear posterior horn and
posterior root. Complex tear of the anterior horn with osseous avulsion of the anterior root
attachment.
Anterior cruciate ligament: Partial tear of the distal attachment with cortical avulsion of the
distal attachment distracted by as much 8 mm.
Posterior cruciate ligament: Intact.
Medial collateral ligament complex: Fluid signal tracking superficial and deep to the tibial
collateral ligament. Mild thickening of the proximal fibers of the tibial collateral ligament.
Lateral collateral ligament complex: Edema tracking along the extent of the fibular collateral
ligament with partial discontinuity at the proximal attachment. Longitudinal tear of the distal
biceps femoris tendon extending to the insertion without focal discontinuity.
Extensor mechanism: Intact.
Joint: Large lipohemarthrosis. Alignment is preserved.
Bone/cartilage: Marrow edema in the proximal tibia related to a comminuted fracture with median
eminence and depressed (2-3 mm) lateral plateau components. Marrow edema in the periphery of
the medial and lateral femoral condyles is thought to be contusion related.
Soft tissues: Posttraumatic edema in the regional soft tissues. Fluid distending the popliteal
recess with element of recent rupture.
