After having dozens of trees cleared, we contracted with an excavator to cut in a driveway. This had to happen in order to get large trucks on site to drill the well. Our goal has been to get the well drilled before winter sets in, to establish that we have adequate water before we move forward with finalizing house plans and then, once we raise enough funds, construction of the septic and house. 

What we were told would take 5 days took 6 weeks. Lessons learned about being the "squeaky wheel" and not being afraid to call the contractor repeatedly when the job is not done right the fist time. Or the second time. Or... you get the point. 

But we now have good drive-able access to the well and home pad site and pray we get good water when we drill the well in the next few weeks. Did you know just drilling a well costs $25-30,000? Yup. But it will be worth it in the end not to walk daily to the nearest stream to carry buckets of water home on my head (lol).
