As many know I (Rachel) was in a terrible car accident back in Feb of this year. After several months of specialists, pain management procedures, PT, etc., it has been decided the best course of action for the spinal cord injury (a syrinx formed at my C6)
from the car accident and the brain condition we have already known I have been suffering with over the last 8 ish years (intracranial hypertension) - is to get brain surgery before any more spinal fluid increases and causes more damage in either place.  This is happening October 28, unless they get an opening sooner than I am the first call. The plan in place currently is to place a right VP shunt that will drain into my pleural cavity (space around the lungs). Because I have both the brain condition and spinal cord injury, not to mention a clotting disorder and have had many prior surgeries - it does this make it more complicated. But I will say I do have faith in this surgeon and trust in him. It is unsure of the length time I will be at the hospital, but the surgeon expects at least 3-5 days in ICU depending how surgery and recovery go. I will be in Lakeway. My recovery after will take a few months to get my numbers situated he said, especially with the spinal cord injury in place as well. (They place a valve that can only be adjusted by the surgeon for when I sit, stand, and lay down as that all varies with spinal fluid). 

Will this page being everything in one place I figured we would be able to ask for the much needed help it will take in order to allow me in ICU/hospital and have Caleb with me, allow Caleb home with me as needed, rides for kids, meals, etc. etc. This will take an absolutely village and I am hoping we can get that. We appreciate all the support in any way we can get it, whether financially / through lending hands / meals/ etc.
